“This is part of our brand’s ongoing mission to improve the sleep environment. Light is a top environmental factor that often gets in the way of a good night’s rest. It impacts how we sleep.”
Neil Parikh
Co-Founder, Casper
Casper is an organization that focuses on entrenching themselves in a broader mission of providing not just a mattress, but a better night’s sleep. With this mission in mind, we set out to resolve real sleep-related problems through the advertising itself.
One of the biggest problems affecting sleep today is light pollution, with Toronto being one of the top 5 brightest cities in the world. So we developed a solution where Casper purchased ad space on the brightest and most notorious billboards in the city and turned them dark at night to help nearby condo dwellers finally get some rest.
Reaction to the campaign was overwhelmingly positive, with thrilled residents and various publications and news outlets such as Media in Canada and CP24 picking up the story. Most importantly, what started out as a small stunt in the Canadian market is now being rolled out by the Casper global team across America and beyond, starting in Denver, Colorado.
Casper was launched in April 2014 by Philip Krim, Neil Parikh, T. Luke Sherwin, Jeff Chapin and Gabriel Flateman. It is now a global e-commerce sleep company that sells sleep products online and in retail locations across the U.S. and Canada. In 2018, Casper opened up a Canadian office in Toronto, along with a manufacturing facility in the country.
