Christo is a genuine dazzler. His flamboyant hairdos, his mucho moustache, his flowered shirts and his epic Catwoman tattoo make his style impossible to replicate. But beneath his modern Freddy Mercury flair, you’ll find a humbly talented human.. He never shouts his ideas over others and always expresses himself with a calm confidence. Though he speaks softly, he uses colourful expressions like a profoundly felt “Yas, Queen” or a “franchement” , paired with an impeccable eye roll.
As a major fan of online quizzes – especially those that classify people by numbers(!) – Christo first discovered the polar extremes of his personality with the Enneagram test. It revealed that he is a combination of the “creative” and “mediator” types. On one side, he has the desire to be different, unique. On the other, he craves consensus and puts others’ needs before his own.
Freedom of expression is essential to Christo. Obviously. He updates his hairstyle every three weeks. Everything about his look challenges norms while – every now and again – flipping the bird at dress codes in general.
He’s a child of the Scary Movie and Le cœur a ses raisons generation (he can recite them from start to finish), so Christo is also strongly influenced by ’90s pop culture. You can hear it in his humour, which he continuously feeds with trashy and weird content on pages like Grenier Memes, La Mère de famille de Ville Mont-Royal and Québec Nostalgie (you probably have no idea what these are, but he’s a real Québécois, so, you know, it’s a Queb thing. ).
Online or IRL, he fully owns every aspect of his personality. For Christo, dressing up in costumes is a deliberate act of defiance against convention and allows him to show his true colours. It all started in childhood, when his mom used to love putting funky makeup on him. He always asked her to give him the Geisha look.
RuPaul’s Drag Race first ignited his love for the world of drag. Ever since, Christo often checks out makeup tutorials, goes to shows at Mado’s and, of course, sends tons of RuPaul GIFs in his free time.
Even though he can seem in your face, Christo seeks calm and balance. He fuels up on good vibes every week at the Wanderlust yoga studio where he resets his mind in Downward Dog. He also dabbles in meditation (with Headspace) and likes to jog for an hour before work, training for his first half-marathon. Some people do these things for the ‘gram, but he swears these habits have changed his life.
With Christo, no topic is off limits. Earrings, queer culture and social inequality can be brought up in a single conversation. In the same sentence, Christo can roll his eyes, throw a “listen up, doll” and defend his values in a well-supported argument. In other words, he’ll dazzle you.
