Strategy Director

At LG2, strategy is about ideas that shape culture, create more engaged relationships between organizations and citizens, and deliver tangible results. We do so through stories, content, identities, physical spaces and technology tools that are worth talking about, sharing, visiting and using. Being part of LG2’s Strategy team means being guided by inspiring leadership that strikes the right balance between business and people.

As a Strategy Director, you are responsible for the highest standards of strategic thinking and for inspiring compelling creative products. You are constantly refining and evolving the strategic process at the agency. You are happiest rolling up your sleeves, leading strategic efforts for projects big and small, new business pitches and ongoing client relationships.

You will work closely with varying levels of client and internal and external cross-functional teams. You will facilitate sessions with anyone, from C-Suite executives to creative directors to junior developers, inspiring creativity and focusing insights. Your briefs will be tight and pointed, your decks informative and succinct, and your perspective sought after rather than avoided.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following

  • Define project scope, considering all relevant factors, and recommend appropriate strategic resources and allocations to ensure project success.

  • Proactively identify new opportunities for client growth, leveraging market insights and industry trends to develop strategies that drive business expansion.

  • Enforce established processes and standards while providing quality assurance to maintain consistency and excellence across all client engagements.

  • Craft compelling narratives and develop strong, insight-driven stories to support new business pitches, effectively communicating the agency's value proposition and unique offerings.

  • Cultivate and nurture relationships with key clients, actively listening to their needs, identifying unmet opportunities, and introducing tailored solutions to address their challenges.

  • Lead the development and implementation of creative and innovative solutions, leveraging strategic thinking and market expertise to maximize client ROI and achieve tangible business results.

  • Lead the ongoing refinement and evolution of the agency’s strategic point of view (POV), processes, and best practices, ensuring alignment with industry standards and emerging trends.

  • Conduct comprehensive research, analyze market trends, and assess competitive dynamics to identify key business and marketing hurdles, informing strategic decision-making and guiding client recommendations.

Ideal profile

  • 10+ years’ experience in a senior strategy role, preferably in an advertising or marketing agency.

  • Proven experience working on tier-1 brands.

  • Proven excellence in brand and communication strategy.

  • Able to develop sound POVs on social media strategy and digital engagement strategies.

  • Strong marketing acumen.

  • Excellent critical thinking skills - analytical, creative, and lateral.

  • Be able to trawl for insight wide and deep in business, consumer, brand, and touchpoint.

  • Solid research skills; ability to understand how to apply qualitative and quantitative learning.

  • Superior interpersonal and communications skills.

  • Be a strategic provocateur by being curious and questioning.

Day after day, our incredible talent gives us their very best. They give us their ideas and their creative spark. Their willingness to just go for it, reach for success… and sometimes even fail.

The least we can do is make their lives easier every day with meaningful benefits, each with its own special purpose. Here’s the goods:

  • A work-life balance: As well as vacations, a week off between Christmas and the New Year, FLEX days to use for whatever and whenever, and National LG2 Day in November.
  • A boost for the future: a RRSP program with contributions from LG2, to plan your future with peace of mind.
  • Tools to put your health first: a customized group insurance program, access to Dialogue – a telemedicine service – and unlimited sick leave.
  • True flexibility: the possibility to work from one of our offices (Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto), your home, your cottage/chalet or on the road... It’s all good. Plus the chance to work outside of Canada for up to one month a year.
  • Lots of opportunities to get together with your colleagues: 4@6, celebrations, sports and wellness activities, etc.
  • Everything you need to work effectively at work and at home: MacBook and accessories, Google environment, access and subscriptions to various software depending on your role, etc.
